Our Story

Founded in 2021 by Nathan Mizera, Discover Bowness is a nonprofit organization working in collaboration with residents and community stakeholders to solve some of our community's most pressing challenges. 

Together, we’re working to build a safer, stronger, and more equitable community. And, we’re doing it in some pretty unique ways. 

Whether addressing food insecurity and affordable housing, empowering young leaders and eliminating barriers to economic and social opportunity, or ensuring that our community's older generation has access to vital programs and supports, our collaborative approach is making a difference in the lives of those around us.  

• Back to School Emergency Lunch Program: last year we provided over five thousand (5000) school lunches for children and youth in Bowness. 

• Coats for Community Campaign: hundreds of winter jackets, toques, gloves, and boots were distributed to community members in need this winter.  

• Bowness Public Safety Taskforce: working closely with community stakeholders and the Calgary Police Service to address important public safety issues in the community.

• Bowness Youth Leadership Scholarship: recognizing young leaders in our community who go above and beyond and awarding them a five hundred dollar scholarship.
